Well if you have plenty of debts (Loans, Mortgages, etc), then mostly Good Things. A negative interest rate would reduce APR’s and you would see a better monthly cashflow.

For the Saver, however, this could be the final nail in the Savers Rate coffin. Rates would reduce so much that a better alternative may be to save Cash instead. But what about the security risks in this? This may be the BofE’s overall idea in fact. Not many people would want to save CASH within their house, so they would most likely want to invest it elsewhere (i.e. Property) or spend it; thus kick-starting the economy.

I say how about do both; invest in Property and splash the cash by purchasing a Garden Room equipped with the latest state-of-the-art Home Cinema experience, Lighting Control & Home Automation all controlled via an iPad?

With more than enough sunlight to fall on the earth within one hour to power it for an entire year, you’d think that the world would be full of photovoltaic panels upon homes and businesses. Well, the startling news is that it is. Despite current financial difficulties, renewable energy is pushing against the economic current and is finding itself one of the most lucrative industries in the United Kingdom.

It is a startling fact to find that in 2011, the demand for renewable energy outgrew the need for any single fossil fuel. This has never before happened in the history of fuel and it highlights a significant turning point amongst the attitudes towards renewable energy and solar power. But if you had a solar power system installed on your home or business, what would this mean to you?

Solar panels from Ploughcroft renewables

Most people think that solar panels only work when it is sunny or when the weather is hot; thankfully this is merely an urban myth. As the United Kingdom receives up to 60% of the sunlight that is received by countries on the equator (such as Brazil), you need not worry about how much sunlight is getting to your cells. Of course, cloud cover does play a small role in solar panels but they still work through this as the PV panels still receive diffused radiation emitted by the sun. This means that your solar panels are guaranteed to work 365 days a year.

The facts and figures regarding solar power are also highly interesting to anyone considering installing PV panels on their roof. Possibly the greatest factor regarding photovoltaic panels is that once they are installed, no one can charge you for any of the electricity they produce as no one can charge you from energy produced by the greatest natural life source we have; the sun. Also, as solar panels can quite often produce excess energy this means that the electricity that they produce can actually be fed into the national grid meaning that you can make money from your cells. After making a deal with your energy provider for 21p per kilowatt hour (after new regulations set by the government) you could be saving hundreds upon hundreds of pounds every year. As the average photovoltaic panel lasts around 25-30 years this means that the panels will pay for themselves over and over again.

So if you decide to install your new solar panels, how do you go about this?

Most renewable energy businesses offer free evaluations at your home or business, which consider what size of system you need, the structural requirements and just how much you could save with PV cells installed upon your roof. Once you’ve decided that PV cells are for you, depending on which size that you have chosen, all it takes is around three days of professional workman at your home or business and the cells are there for 25-30 years, extracting all the natural energy that they can whilst emitting no emissions whatsoever.

With experts predicting that the demand for renewable electricity to rise by 8% every year until 2030, there’s no telling the heights of where the industry will take us. As $260 billion was invested last year in the United States alone, it will soon get to the point where everyone will soon be having photovoltaic panels attached to their roof. This means of course big business for anyone wanting to step into the renewable energy market. Accredited training centres are available across the whole country, that provide experienced roofers, electricians and plumbers with a range of training courses covering health & safety, installation, maintenance and evaluations. With more and more money being invested in renewable energy, there’s no reason why anybody shouldn’t consider a career in one of tomorrows biggest industries.
